Butterfly Kisses

Butterflies kissing everything,
Listen to my tale and you'll see what I mean,
Once upon a time, long long ago,
When I was out on the road.

I was wandering around in Arkansas,
Crater of Diamonds is where I was.
Sitting amid the stones,
Dirt and rocks,
It was hot,
Sweat and dust covered my shirt.

I was there for the diamonds, in hopes of a find.
As I sat with facets on my mind,
Across the field, there arose a cloud.
It swooped and swayed without a sound.
As the apparition drew near,
The specter appeared as one million butterflies.

I had my canteen and I took a sip,
Just as the butterflies began to dip,
It was incredible to see,
One million Butterflies, dancing toward me.

And then they alit all about,
On my legs, arms and torso, my neck, head and snout.
I sat like stone, my eyes aglow.
It was then, I noticed their tongues aflow.
Their curling appendages lapping salt from my flesh.
As they kissed and caressed every part of me.

The heat dissipated, and coolness covered everything.
Then they arose all as one,
And I broke out laughing,
Man that was fun.

Incredulous people from all around the field,
Seeing what had happened said, "Man, that was surreal!"
I sat and smiled and cooly caught my breath,
Because butterfly kisses are the best.
